State of Ohio

The State of Ohio is full of rolling hills and beautiful scenic countryside. Home to some of the largest Amish communities in the world, among the hills and valleys, lie hundreds of Amish farms. Roughly half of the state of Ohio is farmland. Ohio specifically has been ranked among some of the first states in agricultural output.

Ohio holds three large cities, known as the three Cs: Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. Ohio is proudly the birthplace of many famous men in the history of the United States, including the Wright Brothers and Neil Armstrong. And has also been home to eight U.S. presidents: William H. Harrison, Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, James A. Garfield, Benjamin Harrison, William McKinley, William H. Taft, and Warren G. Harding.

On the north side of the state lies Lake Erie, in eastern Pennsylvania, on the southeast, and south lie West Virginia and Kentucky. Indiana is on the west, and Michigan is on the northwest. It is one of the smallest states west of the Appalachian Mountains. The State’s capital is located centrally in Columbus since 1816. The state received its name from the Ohio river which got name from an Iroquoian word meaning “great water.”

Key Factors to Growth in Ohio

One of the key factors to the incredible growth of this state is due in part to its accessibility. It’s a key location between the Eastern Seaboard and the heart of the Midwest. It lies close to the heart of major resources including raw materials and labor and the markets of the East, Midwest, and South.

Ohio is an industrial state full of productive soils, cheap energy, a rich store of natural resources, and many ample transportation facilities. A large amount of the state’s raw materials are processed in Ohio’s factories.

Some of the largest companies in the state of Ohio include Kroger, Concentrix, the American Electric Power Company, and many others.
